This project involved a feasibility study and planning application to transform a disused paddock into two new family homes. Taking inspiration from traditional Sussex barns, the design draws on local materials such as flint stone and black timber cladding to root the new dwellings in their rural setting.

Several layout options were explored before arriving at a configuration that balanced privacy with openness—allowing for generous landscaping and breathing space around each home. Located in an area of water scarcity, the design placed sustainability at its core. Ground source heat pumps, rainwater harvesting, and on-site energy generation were all central to the strategy, alongside a commitment to using sustainable, prefabricated construction methods to reduce waste and environmental impact.
