Ilona and Alex came to us to help remodel their 1960s bungalow, improving both its layout and thermal performance. The existing house and dormer extension were poorly planned and cold, with an underused conservatory, while the ground floor layout limited how the house could be used day to day.

The proposed design reconfigures the home as a whole, introducing clearer circulation, improved connections between living spaces, and new double-height moments to better connect the spaces. A contemporary black timber-clad façade gives the rear of the house, opening onto the garden, a renewed identity, with a phased strategy allowing further external upgrades over time to bring the whole home together with a cohesive, updated look.

Sustainability was central to the project, with a focus on improving energy performance while reusing and recycling elements of the existing building to reduce both waste and cost.
